CIRCUIT SCHEMATIC FOR REGULATED OUTPUT VOLTAGE (with explanation)
Hello friends today I will be discussing about circuits for getting desired regulated output voltage which could be easily build by you after reading this blog.These circuits are very helpful in designing your own power supplies.
The beginning starts from rectification of alternating current by a bridge rectifier and then to smoothing network and finally regulation via some voltage regulators.
There are two easy methods.
Nowadays voltage regulators of various output voltages are available in the market,we can use them or other method is to construct your own voltage regulator using a zener diode along with a transistor.The transistors rating will decide the maximum current output and zener value will decide output voltage i.e. given by Vout = Vz(ZENER VALUE) - 0.7v.

In the below circuit, a voltage regulator is used and is available in LM78XX and LM79XX series at electronic store. ''XX'' will represent output voltage, ''78'' is for positive regulator and ''79'' is for negative voltage regulator.So you could easily identify them while buying. LM317T is a adjustable voltage regulator. For more information refer to link below-

1. Using Voltage Regulator:
Component Details:
Diodes (D1-D4) - 1N4007Voltage Regulator - LM7805 (for output of +5V)
Capacitor- 1000uf/25V
Transformer Details - Stepdown (12-0v)
2. Using Zener Regulator:
In this circuit we will be using a zener diode as an voltage regulator. The circuit consists of resistor , transistor and zener diode. Transistor is used for output current regulation. The value of output current depends upon the rating of transistors. For higher value of output current power transistors (like BD135,MJE3055,etc) can be used. For current upto 500mA BC547 , 2SC945,2SC1815, etc can be used. The circuit is shown below-The link of datasheet for 2SC1815 is below-
